Black Rock Galleries seeks a skilled and experienced Auction House Mover, Driver & Materials Handler to join our Raleigh (Apex, NC) team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the safe transportation, handling, and moving of valuable items, including fine art and antiques.

This is full-time position typically requiring, 40-45 hours per week. Black Rock Galleries (BRG) is the East Coast’s largest, estate liquidator specializing in the sale of estate and personal property through our online auctions. With locations in Connecticut (Fairfield, Bridgeport, Southport, and Greenwich), Boston, and Raleigh, BRG offers employees a small business environment with potential for job growth.


The nature of our dynamic work environment may require additional duties and responsibilities as necessary. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Packing/Unpacking, Loading/Unloading, & Materials Handling. Safely and delicately handle, pack, and transport fine art and antiques with utmost care to ensure their preservation and protection. Checking proper packing, batching, and loading of merchandise per final warehouse destinations (alone or with warehouse team). Physically loading/unloading box truck (either alone or with assistance of other warehouse staff) without incident.
  • Box Truck Operation. Proficiently drive and operate the Company’s box truck, ensuring the safe transportation of estate and personal property merchandise to and from various locations, including auction sites (as needed) and Company warehouse facilities in CT and possibly MA (on a bi-weekly basis). This includes:
  • Ensuring timeliness, efficiency, and safe and secure load carriage and transport of merchandise (i.e., antiques, art, furniture, smalls, etc.)
  • Performing necessary safety inspections before and after each leg of journey;
  • Maintaining logbooks for travel, vehicle repair, and/or working hours with honesty;
  • Adhering to laws and regulations (regulatory agencies, company safety directives, traffic laws, weight limits, etc.); and
  • Regularly monitoring truck maintenance schedules.
  • Technology Usage. Comfortably use technology, including the Company’s inventory management systems, GPS, and communication devices, to efficiently coordinate transportation schedules and maintain accurate records.
  • Multi-Functional / Cross-Functional Support. Demonstrate a multi-functional attitude by actively participating in various roles as needed by the Company. Provide inter-departmental support (as needed) with a willingness to jump in. This may include assisting with photography, cataloging, or other tasks related to auction house operations.
  • Client Interaction. Interact and communicate professionally with both internal and external clients, providing exceptional customer service during pick-ups, deliveries, etc.
  • Adherence to Safety Protocols. Follow strict safety protocols (on the road, on property, and off-property) to prevent accidents, damages, and ensure the well-being of yourself, colleagues, and valuable items.
  • Brand Ambassadorship. Act as a brand ambassador by embodying the values and image of BRG and its brands, fostering positive relationships with clients, and promoting a professional and reputable image during all interactions. This includes working with transparency and integrity, being trustworthy with confidential information, ensuring “big-picture’ methodology to approaching tasks, and complying with company policies, procedures and regulations ((documented, written, and/or verbal).
  • Other. Exhibit a polished and professional demeanor with both internal and external clients. Also, perform other duties as needed/assigned as business needs and requirements evolve.


The annual salary range for this full-time position is $50,000-$52,000 per year, commensurate with experience. The Company offers some flexibility with actual hours worked in order to provide you with a work/life balance. Work may be performed off-site at any of the Company’s locations, on-site at a client’s location, and/or ‘on the road’ at the discretion of the Company. Please note, weekend hours and responsibilities may be necessary. It is up to the GM and managing partner team to determine weekly scheduling priorities (e.g., Tuesday through Saturday schedule, Monday through Friday, etc.).


Valid and clean drivers license with up-to-date + valid medical card. Ability to do physical and heavy lifting, loading, and unloading of heavy boxes, blanket wrapped household and antique furniture, and/or large/bulky items Experience moving/packing/loading antiques, artwork, and /or unique items with care and speed At least five (5) years driving and moving experience High school diploma or GED certificate Honesty and integrity is a must! Available to work weekends Be able to work independently and as part of the team with enthusiasm Organized, detailed and deadline-oriented with excellent time management Ability to professionally communicate with internal/external clients Work autonomously, but able to accept supervisory input and direction when given
